Adobe Reader Lite
Adobe Reader Lite is an alternative solution for those who want to open and read pdf files but not wanting to overweigh their computer with the unwanted features of the standard Adobe Reader. By removing the bloated features, the Adobe Reader Lite comes in a significantly reduced size, offering an enhanced speed and more empty spaces in your hard drive.
The features that are removed from the standard Adobe Reader version includes autorun and desktop shortcuts, Adobe popups, auto update features, the dialog that asks the user to help Adobe Reader better, some plugins that are rarely used, etc. The size of the lite version is 21.7 MB for Adobe Reader Lite 9.1, while the size of the standard one is 41.1 MB.
Some may argue why downloading this lite version, which is really not that lite, while one can download a similar pdf reader with a much smaller size like Sumatra PDF Reader. The answer is because Adobe Reader is a standard compliant PDF software, so it can render any kind of PDF documents perfectly.
Adobe Reader Lite isn’t officially supported by Adobe. It is maintained by a third party developer who wants to keep the rendering ability of Adobe Reader but not its other bloated features. So, if you want to make sure that you can read any kind of PDF documents no matter how it is formatted, this Adobe Reader Lite could be the way out.
