Find Lost Nero Product Key / Serial Number with Nero Serial Finder
Just like other commercial software, as a CD/DVD burning software, Nero requires product key or serial number to be able to be fully operated by the user. The application asks for the license key both when you install it for the first time and when you need to reinstall it. Thus, you should keep your Nero product key all the time in case something happens and you have to reinstall it. Still, no matter how careful you are, there is always a possibility that you lost Nero product key. If this happens, perhaps either of these solutions below will help you to find it.
Use Nero Serial Finder to find the lost Nero product key
Nero Serial Finder is an official tool provided by Nero created specifically to help you finding the serial number of Nero 5, Nero 6, Nero 7, Nero 8 and Nero 9. You can use this tool if the application, Nero, is still installed in your computer. It’s easy to use. You’ll just need to download and launch it, then a list of the Nero serial keys for any Nero products installed in your computer will be displayed within a few seconds.
Find lost Nero product key manually in registry
This method requires you to locate Nero serial numbers in Windows registry. You can use this method if you don’t want to download Nero Serial Finder or when you have uninstalled Nero from your computer.
If you have Nero 5 and Nero 6:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE -> SOFTWARE -> AHEAD -> NERO BURNING ROM ->INFO
If you have Nero 7:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE -> SOFTWARE -> AHEAD -> INSTALLATION -> FAMILIES -> NERO 7 -> INFO
If you have Nero 8:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE -> SOFTWARE -> NERO -> INSTALLATION -> FAMILIES -> NERO 8 -> INFO
If you have Nero 9:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE -> SOFTWARE -> NERO -> SHARED -> NL9
Use an application that focuses on finding product keys
I have once discovered a program that can detect Nero product key but unfortunately I forget the name. You can search for it using search engine or visiting software sites like Softpedia or Freewarefiles.

EXTREMELY frustrating and IRRITATING – I need to know how to
RE-OBTAIN, from NERO, the Serial Number that I PAID FOR! Totally reformatted HD, and now the number saved elsewhere is also gone! Help??

Perhaps the only way left to reobtain the number in your case is to contact the Nero support staff for asking a new key, John
