Online Font Checker to Find What Fonts are Used
If you have come across a sentence, logo, brochure or web graphic with an interesting font style and wonder what font type is being used, you can find it out using this free online font checker tool called WhatTheFont.
The process of the checking or recognition involves three steps only where you should upload the image from your computer or URL, then you’re asked to confirm each detected character in the character confirmation page, and finally you’ll be provided with a list of matching fonts.

However, to support the accuracy of the font recognition, there are several tips regarding to the image you will upload. You can also view the examples of scanned images that are considered to be the optimal ones (screenshot is also possible).
- Get the text as horizontal as possible.
- Letters should be around 100 pixels tall in the image.
- Make sure letters aren’t touching each other.
- Maximum characters is 50.
- Best file format: Tiff, Grayscale, 300 dpi.
- Maximum file size is 2 MB.
In the result page, each font in the list has a link where you can buy the font. Alternatively, if you don’t want to spend money, you can search for the font online. There are many free font directories around.
