Shortcut Key to Create New Folder
This free add-on, bxNewFolder, lets you use a shortcut key to create a new folder within Windows explorer. Optionally, it adds a “New Folder” button to the toolbar of Windows explorer. If pressing F12 isn’t the fastest way to create new folder in certain situations, then clicking on the button will do the same thing.
Once you press the shortcut key or clicking on the button, a small window pops up. Enter the name of the folder into the provided space and click the “Ok” button to instantly create a new folder. If you hold down the Shift key while you click the “Ok” button, the new folder will be opened immediately after it is created.

No more crawling to the context menu again to access the option to create new folder. With a click on a button or shortcut key, you can instantly create a new folder. bxNewFolder works on Windows XP, 2000, 98, ME, NT.

I have been using bxnewfolder for about 6 months (Windows XP). Last week I updated my *Internet* Explorer from 6.0 to 7.0 and everything has gone haywire. My bxnewfolder icon has disappeared and even though I have tried to re-install it, it doesn’t appear. I can’t see anything relating to it in the View or any of the other menus. I am really annoyed about this because I used it such a lot.

Actually XP already has its own “Make a new folder” button too, to create a new folder in Windows Explorer, while it’s located in XP Webview Panel/Common Task Pane, see screenshot: http://img243.imageshack.us/i/standardxpnewfolderbutt.jpg/ (and just like Windows 7 RTM Explorer now), but yeah some people would love it’s on the explorer toolbar as well as Open/Save dialog box.
Since Baxbex new folder offered only old Windows 98 style icon (not matching with new XP visual style), just download free add on new folder button in XP Explorer Toolbar (my created-skinned/reshacked bxnewfolder with Vista style icon etc) + hotkey and floating dialog box, fully functional and working as well: Screenshots: http://img263.imageshack.us/i/newfolderbuttoninxpexpl.jpg/ and http://img263.imageshack.us/i/cleanerusefuldialogboxa.jpg/

(Updated) Get “New Folder” Button on Windows Explorer Toolbar in XP For Free and Better… :
- Updated (Patch only):
If you already have standard/original Baxbex New Folder application installed ( http://www.baxbex.com/ ), then you can also just download this smaller patch to easily get the same Vista style icon for Baxbex New Folder as i said before (to patch bxNewFolder.dll file easily and safely):

All credits to Baxbex for the nice freeware.
Hope that it would be useful, especially for XP users. Anyway good luck…

If you’d rather use microsoft software to do this AND you have a wheel mouse, you can download Microsoft’s Intellipoint software.
This allows you to program what the wheel button does in different programs to do dfferent things, such as CTRL + 0 which is used in most Adobe apps to zoom to 100%.
You can set it to perform a Macro in Explorer.exe and type in the key sequence for new folder (Alt, f, w, Enter)
This works like a charm for me =]
